Man Assaulted While Waiting for Bus Outside Sangertown Square; Suspect Arrested

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. — On Thursday evening in New Hartford, an individual who was waiting at the bus stop outside of Sangertown Square is said to have been assaulted by a man from Utica.

The victim reported to the police that the assault took place around 4:30 p.m. as he was waiting for a bus. He stated that a man approached him and assaulted him. Officers were able to locate the guy on Commercial Drive after receiving a description of him from other officers. The man raced away as the authorities tried to stop him, but he only got a short distance before he was put into jail.

Edgar Vasquez, who is 27 years old and is from Utica, was determined to be the suspect.

Assault in the third degree was alleged to have been committed by Vasquez.

The victim sustained injuries and was sent to the hospital for treatment; he has since been discharged from the facility.
