Suspects arrested in fatal Manhattan stabbing after fleeing to New Hampshire

After escaping to New Hampshire, the suspects in the fatal stabbing in Manhattan have been apprehended.

Police announced on Friday that a suspect who was wanted in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred in Chelsea has been brought back to the city after being identified more than 250 miles away in the state of New Hampshire.

According to the police, the suspect, Travis Forbes, 34, is facing accusations of murder for allegedly stabbing victim Jamal Burton, 38, during the attack on August 31.

According to the police, Forbes escaped to New Hampshire before being taken into custody in that state on September 8th. On Thursday, he was taken back to New York City by extradition.

The arrest of his accomplice, Nylisha Macon, took place just a few hours after the stabbing; nevertheless, the police did not make the public announcement of her capture until after Forbes was taken into custody.

The charges against Macon, age 42, include assault.

According to the police, Burton got into an argument with the two individuals at approximately 12:50 in the morning on Seventh Avenue near W. 28th Street.

During the course of the fight, Macon delivered at least one blow to Burton. According to the statements made by the police, Forbes then pulled out a knife and repeatedly stabbed Burton in the chest.

Burton was sent to Lenox Hill Hospital in an attempt to save his life, but it was to no avail.

It was not immediately clear what precipitated the deadly battle or if Burton was familiar with either of the two assailants before the brawl broke out.

According to the authorities, Burton lived in East New York, which is located in Brooklyn, approximately one mile away from Macon. The Bronx was Forbes’s home for many years.

After a brief arraignment hearing on Thursday in the Manhattan Criminal Court, the judge decided that Forbes should be kept without the possibility of bail. At her arraignment on September 1, a judge ordered Macon to be jailed on a bail of $40,000.
