New Overwatch 2 Hero Leaks A Teleporting Fox Girl Who Plays Support

A teleporting fox girl who plays support: a fresh Overwatch 2 hero leak

Blizzard’s surprise has now been revealed, so Overwatch 2’s newest hero, Kiriko, was unveiled in a video that was published late last night by a YouTuber by the name of Kuriboh Cervantes. The corporation made an effort to censor the content, an incomplete animated short that provides some background information about Kiriko and showcases some of her skills, but it was already too late. The cinematic is simple to locate online.

Blizzard’s upcoming hero shooter is called Overwatch 2. The sequel completely replaces the original game and has already revolutionised what Overwatch is; notably, its free-to-play business model. Naturally, a new game implies new characters, and Overwatch 2 has added a few new faces to its cast in the form of Junker Queen, a tank that looks like Mad Max, and Sojourn, the first playable Black woman in the game. In a radical break from the traditional method of gaining access to Overwatch characters through free updates, new heroes will be launched on a regular basis and unlocked through the new battle pass.

One of them is Kiriko, a support hero that Blizzard unintentionally unveiled earlier this week in a now-deleted section of the $40 Watchpoint Pack for Overwatch 2, which also contains skins, in-game currency, a few Season 1 Premium battle pass tiers, and automatic access to Kiriko when she joins the game.

The incomplete Kiriko animated short arrived from Kuriboh Cervantes as Blizzard was working to eliminate all references to the character from Overwatch 2’s promotional materials. The Spanish-language trailer for this game has still-in-progress visuals and the green-haired fox protagonist walking through her home estate while communicating with a possible younger sister via sign language. She then “face kicks” the Hashimoto clan, the Yakuza in this game. She uses two kunai in battle, teleports throughout the area seemingly at will, and seems to have a healing power. At the conclusion of the fight scene, Kiriko opens some eerie torii gates that seem to enhance the skills of both she and her companions. It sounds quite annoying to deal with some sort of hybrid of Lucio, Moira, and Tracer.

The movie can still be found online even though Blizzard has since claimed copyright to it. As PC Gamer has noted, Daily Motion currently has a password-protected mirror version available for viewing. The password is just “overwatch,” in case you were wondering. I know, how novel of me. (However, it’s important to note that the password appears to have changed only recently.)

Kotaku has contacted Blizzard for a response.

Recently, Blizzard has been trying to contain the damage, but not because it is being sued again. No, the corporation has been posting about Overwatch 2 while “addressing some incomplete information.” In particular, the game’s commercial director John Spector emphasised on Twitter that heroes in the sequel will be accessible via the battle pass’s free track, implying that you may either pay to unlock them or work for hours to acquire access to the game’s upcoming cast of new characters. Bummer.

On October 4, Overwatch 2 launches for the Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and PlayStation Vita.
