Outer Banks Season 3 Potential Release Date, Cast, Plot and Everything You Need to Know

The cast, storyline, and likely release date for Outer Banks season 3 are all listed below.

Here are some Outer Banks spoilers, including the conclusion to season 2.

Netflix, be alert. Please and thank you, Season 3 of Outer Banks is urgently needed. You cannot abandon us in such a way.

With a shocking revelation about John B’s father, season two of the Pogues finished on a melancholy note that left us wanting more information.

The precise release date of the new episodes after the season two finale cliffhanger is unknown, but we do know they are on their way.

Here is what we currently know.

When will the third season of Outer Banks possibly air?

Pogues, good news! In December 2021, the third season of Outer Banks was officially announced. We now need to wait to see when it will air on television.

“All the way from Poguelandia, season three baby!” the actors of the show said in a video that was released on Twitter.

The cast, which included Madelyn Cline, Chase Stokes, Madison Bailey, Rudy Pankow, Jonathon Daviss, Carlacia Grant, and Drew Starkey, returned to action in Charleston, South Carolina, when production got underway at the end of February 2022.

The post’s heading read: “Don’t text or call. Poguelandia has no services. OBX 3 is now being produced again.”

The first season debuted in April 2020, and the second wasn’t even released until the end of July 2021, meaning there was little over a year between the first two seasons. We also know that season two’s filming lasted from August 2020 through April 2021.

In light of the eight-month production period, the earliest we may anticipate seeing Outer Banks on our screens once more is late 2022.

And maybe that won’t be the last time we watch the programme either.

Outer Banks creator Jonas Pate has previously stated that the show would go into seasons four or five, but whether the intended tale is really told will ultimately depend on if Netflix decides to renew it.

As Pate told Entertainment Weekly, “Ever since we started, we always considered it as something that was probably like a four-season, maybe five-season programme, but definitely four seasons.” “We’ve kind of stretched it out quite a ways. I only hope that we get the opportunity to share such tales.”

It’s encouraging that Chase Stokes believes he will continue to play John B for the foreseeable future for us OBX fans.

“Although it absolutely depends on how people respond to it, I would dearly want to continue. We’re hope that, as last year, viewers will become engrossed in the narrative and continue to develop a sentimental attachment to not only the Pogues’ voyage but to the entire Outer Banks community “Stokes spoke with UK Cosmopolitan.

Who will be on the Outer Banks cast for season three?

The core cast will all be returning for more now that season three has begun.

Following her breakup with on-screen (and now officially off-screen) partner Chase Stokes, rumours were swirling about Madelyn Cline leaving the show.

They dated for a year before making their relationship public in June 2020. The two, who play Sarah Cameron and John B, respectively, are actors.

Fans were concerned that Cline wouldn’t return for a third season after their breakup, but when she revealed it in a now-deleted Instagram story, the rumours came to an abrupt end.

The 24-year-old woman wrote as her selfie’s caption:

“I frequently get asked if Season 3 of Obx will be my last. For as many seasons as they will have me, I shall return. There isn’t a day that goes by that I am not appreciative of my profession and everyone who has seen it because I enjoy it. Not everything you read online is accurate.”

I’m relieved since it appears that her character Sarah has a lot more to come.

ELLE interviewed the Knives Out 2 actress, who said:

“I want her to enjoy herself. I want to witness her personal growth. That would be the most ideal outcome for me and Sarah’s story.”

She went on: “She and John B should discuss what just transpired, in my opinion. I’m interested in how she interacts with her chosen family on an intimate level. We could learn more about her and Kie’s friendship in the past. See if she tries to enrol in Pogue High School. Maybe watch her look for work.

“The second season was really entertaining and fast-paced. And if we’re fortunate enough to receive a third season [which we now know they will!] I want to explore some character issues and learn more about [Sarah].”

All of the primary characters were shown in Netflix’s confirmation post, as was already announced. We thus believe it is reasonable to assume that in addition to Cline, Chase Stokes as John B, Madison Bailey as Kiara, Jonathan Daviss as Pope, and Rudy Pankow as JJ will all be returning. Pogues for life.

While recent hire Carlacia Grant, who was first introduced to us as Cleo in season three, has (happily) been promoted to a series regular, Drew Starkey will return to the role of Rafe.

They will be joined once more by Cullen Moss (Sheriff Shoupe), Austin North (Topper), and Charles Esten (Ward).

There’s always a chance that some fresh people may come on board.

Plot of Outer Banks season 3: How will the conclusion of season 2 affect what occurs next?

It’s fair to say that the season two conclusion of Outer Banks came as a bit of a surprise.

Sarah and John B had been pursuing the treasure throughout the series, eventually meeting up with the other Pogues in Charlotte. The group avoided being killed by Ward, Rafe, and Carla, a newcomer (murder is always a possibility with this group!).

The Camerons, Sarah’s family, had taken possession of the Pogues’ recently acquired gold cross during a dramatic encounter aboard a cargo ship. The group fled ship (literally) after narrowly escaping death (again), only to land on a desolate island.

As the season came to a conclusion, Carla was her route to see John B’s father, who many people believed to be deceased but who is actually very much alive! He promised to assist in locating the Shroud of Turin—a miraculous healing object that was said to be concealed inside the gold cross—in exchange for her aiding John B. and his pals.

If there is a third season, we can anticipate this chase to go on as fans wonder if John B will ever get to see his father again, who is still breathing clearly.

Pate remarked to Entertainment Weekly: “The father-son bond of John B is a major subject. John B. will finally see his dad again, and he will have to make a compromise between his idealised perception of his deceased father and the reality of his alive father.”

It will essentially serve as the spine for season three, according to writer Shannon Burke.

Audiences may well be in for that memorable moment, at least if showrunner Josh Pate has his way. He acknowledged that “John B’s connection with his dad is a key subject [to build season three]” in an interview with EW.

John B. will have to reconcile his idealised vision of his deceased dad with the reality of his alive dad when his dad ultimately comes back around, Pate continued. It provides us with a tonne of father-son-themed material to work with.

Shannon Burke, a writer, added: “It will play a significant role and maybe serve as season three’s backbone. It’s an enormous discovery that will undoubtedly drive a significant portion of the third season.”

The actor who portrays John B, Chase Stokes, has talked openly about anticipating what this discovery would imply for his character moving forward.

He reflected: “I hope to continue to tell the narrative for a couple more seasons,” he said to TV Line “It wasn’t like he [Big John] was carried off in a storm or something similar. What does it seem like that he made the decision to leave his son behind and go out? What does it look like for a child to meet a father who has abandoned him, decided to place him in these conditions, and has no concept what has transpired in the interim?”

The Outer Banks showrunners don’t have a “grand plan” for the third season, despite all of this extremely encouraging talk, according to TV Line. However, they do have some ideas about the topics they would like to explore more.

In terms of the strategy for the show, this seems like business as usual. In reality, Big John’s comeback wasn’t even a given when they were planning season two.

Jonas Pate stated to TV Line, “We knew we had the card. When we were writing this year, we weren’t sure whether we would play it, but around the sixth or seventh episode, we began to think we might be able to.

“It was always an idea lurking about and conceptually, it sets up some topics we want to explore in the third season,” Pate said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

We shot other endings for the first season because we weren’t completely sure, and we also had alternates for this season that we ultimately decided not to use, according to Pate. Trial and error is absolutely a part of our approach since sometimes you just can’t tell until you put it all together.

The Pogues, along with new member Cleo, were left stranded on that deserted island in the second film with little food supplies. Fans will be interested in learning how, or even if, they succeed in escaping.

The group won’t give up on their quest to find the goodies easy, according to the show’s producers.

Pate also disclosed that “the treasure search is going to expand, and the narrative behind the treasure hunt is going to deepen and get deeper” during the same EW interview.

The production crew is “very revved up,” according to him, about how everything is “going to expand” in season three.

While the Pogues are stuck together on the island they christened Poguelandia, we do know that romance is in the works. The show’s producers have hinted that JJ and Kiara fans may be especially thrilled next season, and Pate said they were “immediately amenable” to the notion.

“We kind of left that for season three, but it sounds like an interesting concept to investigate,” he added.

What about Sarah and John B?

It “would be incredibly great in season three” to watch them “get to genuinely get to know one other in a very true sense,” the actor Madelyn Cline told Entertainment Tonight.

They are married, but they don’t really know anything about one another, she said.

She said, “I think there will be a lot of determination for Sarah,” in a May interview with E! News. “a great deal of resolve and feelings for her family. She hasn’t been able to support her family on her own for the past several seasons, so we’re now getting to witness that.”

According to Cline, “We’re exploring a lot of other relationships and narrative lines that we haven’t had a chance to before,” this may very likely entail her standing up to her brother and family.

Chase Stokes has also suggested that John B could have made his choice to get married a little hastily, which we assume may have consequences for a third season.

“John B, in my opinion, clings to a lot of those who are close to him. He clearly exhibits a little more codependence than he cares to admit “said Stokes to TV Line. “And Sarah has now become his lifeline. Society tells us, “Hey, there’s a tiny sparkly piece that you put on somebody’s finger,” and just like any fantastic relationship, you want to keep that person around. The way to make it official is to go to a courthouse.

“It makes perfect sense when you’re a young person in love and in the heat of the moment. And he hasn’t exhibited consistency… Since his father has been absent for some time, it is vitally necessary for him to have something steady in his life. He obviously goes a touch over the top, but for a young person who has seen so much tragedy, it makes sense. Maybe the timing and the idea are off.”

In an interview with ELLE, newcomer Carlacia Grant (who portrays Cleo) expressed her desire for both more character growth and a future relationship.

If that happens, she told the tabloid, “I’m extremely interested in seeing this whole Cleo and Pope thing happen.”

“And I’d want to learn more about Cleo’s past. Personally, I’d really like to see more of her and her background. Additionally, I want her to be unquestionably badass.”

That would be entirely acceptable to us.

In season three, Kiara and JJ’s romance could also soon start to take off.

Teen soap and teen romance are major components of the programme, according to Pate. “Although we are definitely aware of the opinions of the fans regarding JJ and Ki, we wanted to investigate the Ki-Pope relationship. That was a hint we intended to drop for the third season.”
