Rcmp Major Crime Unit Investigating Homicide in Keremeos

Keremeos murder is being investigated by the RCMP’s serious crime section.

After a man was discovered dead inside a property, investigators from the Southeast District Major Crime Unit (SED MCU) swooped on a little village in the Similkameen Valley.

On Sunday night, at 11 p.m., RCMP officers were sent to a residence in Keremeos in response to a complaint of an unresponsive male.

When officers arrived at the residence in the 100-block of 9th Avenue, they discovered the guy had died under strange circumstances, according to authorities.

According to S/Sgt. Janelle Shoihet of the BC RCMP, “our preliminary investigation leads us to think that the general public is not in danger” and that “this was an isolated occurrence unconnected to any other active investigations in the South Okanagan.”

The inquiry has been handed up to the serious crime team, according to Shoihet.

The police will be in the area for many days to obtain all of the required evidence.

Frontline officers from the Keremeos RCMP and the RCMP Forensic Identification Section are assisting the major crime unit.

At this point, the dead man’s identity remains unknown.
