Former Miss Usa Cheslie Kryst Has Died, Police Say

According to police, Cheslie Kryst, a former Miss USA, has died.

According to her family and police, Cheslie Kryst, a former Miss USA, died early Sunday morning. She was thirty years old at the time. Kryst, who has crowned Miss USA in 2019, died after jumping from a building in Manhattan, according to the New York City Police Department.

“We share the devastation and great sorrow of our beloved Cheslie’s passing,” her family said in a statement obtained by CSU. “With its beauty and strength, her great light inspired people all over the world. She was genuine, she loved, she laughed, and she shone.”

The former Miss USA posted an Instagram photo before her death. “May this day bring you rest and peace,” she captioned a selfie. Kryst was a lawyer who worked to improve the justice system in America. She earned three degrees from two universities.

Kryst, who is from North Carolina, worked as a civil litigation attorney for a law firm, assisting prisoners who may have been sentenced unfairly in receiving reduced sentences for free.

“Whether as an attorney fighting for social justice, Miss USA, or an EXTRA host, Cheslie embodied love and served others,” her statement said. “But, most importantly, we know her legacy will live on as a daughter, sister, friend, mentor, and colleague.”

Kryst received her law degree and MBA from Wake Forest University, and she majored in track and field at the University of South Carolina. She was licensed to practice in two states.

Kryst also worked as a correspondent for ExtraTV, a website dedicated to entertainment news.

“Our hearts are broken,” the company said in a statement. “Cheslie was more than just a supporting character in our show. She was a much-loved member of our Extra family who had an impact on everyone on the team. We send our deepest sympathies to all of her family and friends.”

In addition to working in law, she ran the White Collar Glam fashion blog for women’s workwear and volunteered for Dress for Success.
