Anna (Kristen Bell) leaves her problems and red wine behind for a weekend getaway to meet her best friend Sloane (Mary Holland) in New York City, one year after being acquitted of murder. She finds herself in the heart of another probable murder investigation after a few little bottles of alcohol, a few Xanax, and an A-list appearance.
Woman in the House will not be renewed for a second season, according to Netflix. Bell, who also acts as an executive producer on the program, previously told PopSugar that she believes her character would solve the cliffhanger mystery in the finale “within the first five minutes of Episode 1, and then we immediately leap into another mystery, like murders follow my character around.” She did, however, state that she had “no idea” if a second season will be made or what the story would be about.
If the program is resurrected, Bell will have a lot of say in the matter. She even turned down Netflix’s offer to shorten the title in Season 1 since the ridiculous length represented the tone they were seeking to establish. “This episode is certainly a hilarious psychological drama,” she observed on Today on January 20. “It’s based on all of these women’s psychological works.” Every time, the formula remains the same. She drinks much too much. It’s possible she’s mixing it with pills. She thinks she saw a murder take place. Nobody believes she is telling the truth. There’s so much formula in it that we thought it was past time to mock it.”
The balance between drama and comedy was tough to achieve. “This one was challenging since I had to decide whether or not to make a joke about it.” “Or do I play it absolutely straight and risk missing the joke?” she asked Entertainment Weekly. The resulting film, according to her, represents “the greatest dreadful acting I’ve ever attempted to do in my career.”
