Midge Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan) will return with her cranky employer Susie Myerson (Alex Borstein) – as well as her dysfunctional family, including parents Rose Weissman (Marin Hinkle) and Abe Weissman (Tony Shalhoub), ex-husband Joel (Michael Zegen), and ex-father-in-law Moishe Weissman (Kevin Pollak).
For those pulling for Midge’s love life, Luke Kirby’s prospective love interest Lenny Bruce will be returning to the stand-up stage. The newest season will now include Joel’s girlfriend Mei (Stephanie Hsu).

Although it is unknown what parts they will play, photographs of Ventimiglia and Brosnahan in costume shooting together seem to hint he is the next love interest.
“I’m happy for fans to see all the new characters this season; there are some very great new faces and stories,” Brosnahan told The Hollywood Reporter.
What will be the storyline of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 4?
Midge climbed the highest and fell the deepest in the last season of the Amazon Prime program. Midge was slated to join Shy Baldwin on his globe tour after a successful American leg as his opening act.
Midge has pulled off the remainder of the tour minutes before boarding the aircraft for some terrible jokes that threatened to expose Shy’s sexuality during one of her shows.
According to the official season synopsis:
“Change was in the air in 1960. Midge seeks a job with complete creative freedom in order to improve her performance. However, her dedication to her work – and the places it leads her – causes a schism between her and her family and friends.”
So, what exactly does it imply?
We can catch up on each of the key plotlines in the teasers for season four. Midge and Susan are first seen making plans for their next steps. With her self-esteem and reputation shattered, it seems in season four that she is attempting to carve her own path in the world of stand-up comedy. She doesn’t want to be the opening act anymore; she wants to forge her own path.
Following in the footsteps of Lenny, it’s likely that the two comedians will engage in more flirtatious interactions. Although fans hope that the two will finally get together, as previously stated, a rival in the form of Milo Ventimiglia’s character may appear.
Meanwhile, Joel’s perplexing relationship with Mei appears to be only getting more so. As their relationship progresses, it appears that his ex-family wives are eager to see him find new love.
Meanwhile, Susie’s estrangement from Midge appears to be widening. Susie Myerson and Associates, her management company, is seen purchasing a new office as she attempts to expand. We also visit her sister after their mother’s death to see how she and her sister are healing their relationship.
Finally, it appears that Rose and Abe are looking to settle down – and not just anywhere – after their Parisian shenanigans from last season. Midge invites her parents to re-locate with her, implying that a Weissman family reunion is on the horizon.
Whatever happens, we can expect Midge to get into a few scrapes before the season is over.
