Mississippi Police Officer Finds Own Son Dead While Responding to Shooting Scene (1)

While attending to a gunshot scene in Mississippi, a police officer discovers his own kid dead. Over the weekend, a Mississippi police officer responding to a gunshot realized that the victim was her son.

According to CSU of Chris, authorities were summoned to the area on Larkin Street early Sunday, mere steps from the Hazlehurst Police Department.

“We first went to the call not knowing that the individual who was lying there was going to be my kid,” Officer Laquandia Cooley told the station.

Charles Stewart Jr., 20, was found with a gunshot wound to the head in the middle of the roadway.

“I glanced over and said, ‘This is my baby, this is my son,'” Cooley said as they walked out the door. “So, you know, I’m just having a nervous breakdown?” For instance, why? “Who would do such a thing to my child?”

It remained unclear on Tuesday what prompted the shooting or if anybody had been arrested.

“When I saw what I have done, I couldn’t believe my eyes.” My attention was attracted to my own child, who was still lying on the floor. From beginning to end, it had been a nightmare. Cooley remarked, “It was simply too much.”

Charles Stewart, the victim’s father, remembers his son as a kind kid who got along with everyone.

“For the whole family, it’s a horrific situation.” “We’re just trying to get by day by day,” he said. “All I want to know is what happened and who could be to blame.”

The police chief, Darian Murray, confirmed the incident to CSU News. Because it involves a family member of an officer, the matter will be examined by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation.
