Detectives Review Videos From L.A. Music Fest in Search For Drakeo The Ruler’s killer

Detectives were studying recordings and surveillance footage from the Once Upon a Time in L.A. music festival on Monday in an attempt to identify the individual who fatally stabbed Drakeo the Ruler backstage during the event on Saturday night, according to authorities.

Authorities have revealed little information about the event, but a source close to the situation told The New York Times that Drakeo the Ruler was attacked by a gang of individuals. Several videos of the aftermath of the stabbing have surfaced. However, it’s unclear if any of them recorded the incident itself. Many people were present backstage at the time of the incident, according to sources.

After a battle broke out, the rapper, whose actual name is Darrell Caldwell, was “severely wounded by a suspect with an edged weapon,” according to California Highway Patrol detectives. Witnesses are requested to call the CHP at (323) 259-3200 if they have any information on the event.

Caldwell, 28, was set to perform at the event, which included a star-studded roster that included Ice Cube, 50 Cent, and Al Green. Caldwell died just as his career was taking off, with many fans and music journalists hailing him as a forward-thinking songwriter. After a series of highly watched legal fights, he was just freed from jail.
