Four Men Arrested For Hate Crime in Dover

4 men in Dutchess County were arrested on December 6th for a robbery. They might have been a hate crime because they selected victims based on their race.

Troopers were sent to a home in the town of Dover, on Market Street. It happened at about 11:53 p.m., and one of the people attacked called 911 and said that a group of men had attacked them. One attacker had a gun. The victims were not seriously hurt, but the attackers ran away with the stolen jewelry when they saw police coming.

Police investigated and found out the perpetrators of a crime targeted people based on their race. They were arrested and can get 25 years in prison if they are convicted.

Two of the robbers are a father and his son, Joshua A Benson, who is 40 years old, and Joshua A Benson Jr., who is 23 years old. The other two robbers are Nicholas L Gast, age 34, and Darius L Robinson, age 19. They all live in Dover.

Four men were put in jail. They went to the court in Dover. The judge decided they should stay there until there was a next court date.

Darius Robinson and Joshua Benson Jr. had to pay $50,000 cash bail or a $100,000 secure bond or a $200,000 partially secure bond. Nicholas Gast was not put in jail.
