Galesburg Man Arrested on Four Gun Crimes After Police Locate Him Using Search Warrant

GALESBURG — A Galesburg man was arrested on Wednesday for three gun crimes. He got the fourth one, too—police like to arrest people who commit crimes with guns.

On Wednesday, the Knox County State’s Attorney’s Office obtained search warrants for 755 W. Berrien Street in order to find Nathan E. Cantu. He has three warrants for shooting incidents in Galesburg, Illinois.

The police department in Galesburg did something. They executed a warrant, Knox County Sheriff’s office, and Knox County State’s Attorney’s office. Nathan E. Cantu was taken into custody without any trouble.

In Cantu’s fourth shooting incident, he will be charged with a fourth aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Violent crime in Galesburg has been a big problem. The Galesburg Police Department has tried to deal with the issue by forming a task force which includes law enforcement, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois State Police, Knox County State’s Attorney’s Office, and the FBI Springfield Division. Their goal is to identify people involved with violent crimes in particular instances of gun crime in April 2021.
