A guy who was allegedly the intended victim of a gunshot that claimed the life of a small child has been detained and will be questioned about the murder. On Monday night in Dovecot, Olivia Pratt-Korbel was shot in the chest while her mother fought with the assailant and pursued him inside her home.
The 35-year-old was held at a hospital on a jail recall and was apprehended as part of the inquiry into Olivia’s death, according to Merseyside Police.
It said that his condition was stable.
Det Ch Insp Mark Baker said that the police was still looking into Olivia’s terrible murder and was helping her family cope with the loss. I want to reiterate what our chief constable stated yesterday and ask the community to continue supporting this family in every way you can, he added.
“As this arrest shows, we will do everything in our power to remove all of those involved in gun crime from the streets.” The moment “is not the time for anybody who knows who was responsible to remain quiet,” he said.
“It’s time for all of us to work together to make Merseyside a place where carrying a weapon on public property is completely unacceptable, and offenders are held accountable.
