The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5: Release Date, Cast, Trailer, Plot

Returning this fall, the Hulu series based on the novel by Margaret Atwood, The Handmaid’s Tale, will continue up just where it left off in its finale, as the former handmaids (played by Joseph Fiennes) pursued down and killed Commander Waterford (played by Jeremy Renner).

For Season 5, Elisabeth Moss will reprise her role as June, although the new episodes will lack one of the show’s most prominent cast members.

Season 5 of The Handmaid’s Tale will premiere when?

The new season’s first episode will premiere on Hulu on Wednesday, September 14, the show’s official release date.

The first two episodes of Season 5 will be available on Hulu at 3 a.m. ET/midnight PT on that date. Episodes will be released every week after that, although the streamer hasn’t said how many there will be in the new season yet.

Who Are the Handmaid’s Tale Season 5 Cast Members?

As of this writing, Elisabeth Moss, Yvonne Strahovski, Bradley Whitford, Ann Dowd, O. T. Fagbenle, and Samira Wiley are the only cast members confirmed for Season 5 of House of Cards.

Hulu published photographs of two characters this season and a plot synopsis for Season 5, which included all other symbols.

Another member of the cast has already been announced as departing. Emily Malek actress Alexis Biedel announced her departure from The Handmaid’s Tale in May 2022.

Hulu revealed in December 2020 that the show’s fifth season would premiere in December of that year. Aside from Madeline Brewer (who portrays Janine Lindo) and Max Minghella (who plays Nick Blaine), the video also features Moss, Strahovski, Fagbenle, Wiley, Whitford, and Dowd (Rita Blue).

While this video has both Biedel and Fiennes, it’s not an absolute indication that they’ll all participate in the upcoming episodes.

What Is Season 5 of The Handmaid’s Tale About?

Hulu’s official description of the season is: “June struggles to rebuild her identity and purpose while dealing with the consequences of killing Commander Waterford. In Toronto, the widowed Serena tries to get noticed as Gilead’s influence spreads.

Commander Lawrence works with his aunt Lydia as he strives to rebuild Gilead and rise to power. Hannah’s effort to save and reconcile with her mother is being pursued by June, Luke, and Moira from afar.

Is there a new Handmaid’s Tale Season 5 trailer available?

No, not at the time of this article’s publication. Two new photos from The Handmaid’s Tale have been posted by Hulu, with one showing a dejected June and the other showcasing a cheerier Serena dressed as a widow.

When will the Season 5 teaser video be released? Hulu released the final trailer for the upcoming season at the end of February 2021, more than two months before the show’s premiere. If the previous trend holds, we should expect a trailer for Season 5 in mid-July.

Seasons 1 through 4 of The Handmaid’s Tale is available to stream on Hulu.
