Dad Stabbed To Death in Whalan Park in Alleged Dispute Over Rent, PlayStation and Cat

According to police, a man was stabbed to death in Sydney’s west after a pre-arranged altercation about unpaid rent, a PlayStation console, and a cat.

On Wednesday evening, the 40-year-old was stabbed in the neck at Whalan Reserve in Whalan and died at the spot. His 19-year-old son was stabbed in the chest and is currently in critical but stable condition.

The boy’s uncle, who is 25 years old, was also hurt and is in stable condition at the hospital. Two guys, one 18 and the other 19 were detained on Thursday in connection with the event.

According to authorities, charges are expected to be brought. The incident occurred when two parties reportedly met at the Whalan reserve for a pre-arranged fight, according to Detective Chief Inspector Paul Tickner.

The battle reportedly started as a one-on-one before spiraling out of control when the three men were stabbed, one of whom died, and the other two were brought to the hospital.

“The two persons involved used to live together, and there’s been a bit of a squabble over the previous several days,” Det Chief Insp Tickner explained.

“As a consequence of that, some stuff was reportedly removed from the Kingswood apartment where they were residing, and they’d been having a bit of a go at each other on social media, and they’d planned a fight last night.”

The purported brawl between the two groups involved about 13-14 persons.

‘It’s ludicrous,’ says the speaker.

The stabbing, according to Det Chief Insp Tickner, was a “senseless act.”

“It’s insignificant,” he remarked.

“It’s come to the point where it’s preposterous that a person has died, two people are in hospitals – one of whom is still fighting for their life – all over a squabble over (allegedly) not paying rent and some property being confiscated in reprisal,” she says. After the three guys were stabbed, a member of the victims’ party reportedly tried to drive over two of the perpetrators with a ute.

The ute flipped onto its roof during that effort.

The driver and two female passengers in the car were unharmed.
