Second Suspect Arrested in Shooting of CHP officer in Turlock Last Week, Police Say

TURLOCK (California) —

According to Turlock police, a second suspect has been apprehended in the mid-December shooting of a California Highway Patrol officer.

Alexander Arroyo, 21, was detained on Tuesday after detectives discovered he was also engaged in the shooting, according to police. Turlock police say he was charged with two counts of attempted murder.

On December 16, a gunshot occurred in the 600 block of High Street. The suspects are suspected of firing at CHP officers investigating a motorway incident.

Officers retaliated with gunfire, and Henry Moreno Arroyo, 40, was apprehended soon after. Another person was detained on the same day but was later released. It’s unclear if Alexander Arroyo has been imprisoned before.

Henry Arroyo was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder at the Stanislaus County Jail. The cop who was injured in the incident had just minor injuries and was discharged from the hospital the next day.
