Billie Eilish Pokes Fun at 16-Year-Old Colin Jost in SNL Monologue: ‘Yikes!’

Billie Eilish Pokes Fun at 16-Year-Old Colin Jost in SNL Monologue 'Yikes!'

This week, the NBC show that has won seven Grammys had actress and singer 19 as both the host and musical guest. The show was not disappointing.

For her opening speech, the singer dressed up as “Mrs. Claus heading to the club,” in which she joked about growing up in the limelight and the media’s criticism of her beauty.

“Some people are confused about why I began to wear baggy clothes. There is a good explanation for this, “she said. It wasn’t just because of comfort or looks.

During the first song, Eilish brought out a surprise guest: her mother, Maggie! As the performer joked about being the least-favorite kid, her mother joined her onstage in a hoodie with a photo of Eilish’s elder brother Finneas O’Connell.

Later, Eilish said, “Not only do I like Christmas, but it’s also my birthday next week. I’m turning 20, or middle-aged, as the internet refers to it. But I’m genuinely looking forward to becoming older since I’m just now beginning to realize who I am as a person. And the scary thing about growing up in the spotlight is that everyone assumes that everything you say, do, and look like is who you are for the rest of your life. It’s not right. Would you want to be assessed based on how you looked when you were 16? No way!”

She then proved her argument by revealing a throwback image of 16-year-old Colin Jost in high school! “Imagine being Colin Jost in the present day, and the first thing that pops up when you Google yourself is 16-year-old Colin Jost,” she said. “Yikes! Watching other people go to prom is what I’m doing here.”

But the point is, it takes time and work to accept who you are. When you do, it will make you happy. I also spent time trying to be someone I’m not and acting like that instead of taking care of myself.

Eilish sang in between her sketches. She sang a powerful song from her new album, Happier Than Ever. Her mother was at the show too. Eilish sang “Male Fantasy” on the guitar with her mom.

Eilish is returning to Saturday Night Live for the second time. She was a musical guest for the show’s season 45 debut, which was hosted by Woody Harrelson, in September 2019.

Eilish’s hosting position on Saturday Night Live comes only a week before her 20th birthday. In a preview for the show, comedian Kate McKinnon gives the “Getting Older” singer an unexpected surprise to commemorate the anniversary.

“20? Wow! So, you’re about to learn the world’s biggest secret that has been passed down from generation to generation, right? “McKinnon, 37, informed the performer.

“Why don’t you just tell me right now?” McKinnon obliges Eilish’s request. McKinnon walks away from Eilish as she seems frozen after saying something in her ear. In response, she says, “That’s horrible.”

The comedian responds, “I know!” “Billie Eilish, happy birthday! Hello and welcome to the world!”

Eilish was announced as one of the candidates for the Grammy Awards in 2022 earlier this month. The singer was nominated for record of the year, song of the year, and best pop solo performance for the third year in a row.

In addition to album of the year, Eilish was nominated for the best music video, best music film, and best pop vocal album.

She shared a visual of her many nominations on Instagram to honor her achievements. She commented, “This is UNREAALLLLLLLL!!!” “It’s literally crazy… What wonderful news to wake up to. I’m about to scream. @recordingacademy, THANK YOU! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK SEVENNNNN!”
