2 Women Charged After Children Hit with Metal Knuckles, Deputies Say

Deputies said two women have been charged after children were allegedly struck with metal knuckles.

Raleigh, North Carolina’s Burke County the children in their care were allegedly struck with metal knuckles by two women, according to the sheriff’s office in burke county.

On Friday, deputies in Connelly Springs responded to an anonymous report about “felonious child abuse” taking on at a residence there. Allegations surfaced that Natalie “Shane” Childress inflicted major injuries on children under her care by hitting them with metal knuckles.

According to deputies, Child Protective Services attempted to contact Jessica Renee Sanders, the children’s mother, to inquire about the allegations of abuse. When CPS investigators arrived, Sanders assured them that the children were not present.

When deputies searched for the children, they located them and took them to UNC Health Valdese, where they were taken by EMS to a Children’s Hospital Abuse/Trauma Center, according to the sheriff’s office.

They were taken in by deputies to the Burke County Magistrate’s Office after a thorough investigation.

The sheriff’s office said Childress was charged with negligent child abuse resulting in great bodily harm. Sander was accused of complicity in child abuse that resulted in death or serious bodily harm.

A $250,000 bond was issued to each of the two ladies.
