Memphis Police Issue Arrest Warrant for Suspect in Young Dolph Fatal Shooting (1)

A warrant has been issued for the person responsible for Young Dolph’s death.

The Memphis Police Department has issued a warrant for the suspect in rapper Young Dolph’s fatal shooting, according to the US Marshals Service.

Adolph Robert Thornton, Jr., the rapper’s true name, was fatally murdered at Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies in Memphis on November 17, 2021. Two children survive the 36-year-old artist.

Justin Johnson, 23, has been identified as the perpetrator of his murder and is being sought for first-degree murder. A reward of up to $15,000 is being offered by the US Marshals Service, Memphis Police Department, Crime Stoppers, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation for information leading to Johnson’s capture.

According to the Marshals Service, Johnson is around 5-feet-8-inches tall and weighs 190 pounds.

The name ‘Jaiya’ is tattooed on his right arm, according to the Marshals Service. “Johnson is linked to organized crime organizations and should be seen as armed and dangerous.”

According to the Marshals Service, Johnson has been placed on the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s “Most Wanted” list.

Two suspects exited a white two-door Mercedes-Benz armed with weapons and approached Young Dolph while he was inside the cookie business, according to security photographs provided by Memphis police the day of the killing. According to authorities, the suspects, whose faces were partially obscured, shot the artist several times before fleeing the area.
