Man Arrested After Allegedly Assaulting Jamestown Police Officer

The Jamestown police officer who was reportedly assaulted was evaluated and released from Jamestown Regional Medical Center with minor facial lacerations and bruising, according to Maj. Justin Blinsky, assistant chief of police.

According to Maj. Justin Blinsky, assistant chief of police in Jamestown, a 29-year-old Jamestown man, was detained on Wednesday, Dec. 15, after he assaulted a Jamestown police officer.

According to Blinsky, Seth Nicholas Burkle was detained for simple assault-domestic violence and assault on a peace officer. He is in jail until formal charges are filed against him.

A welfare check was requested soon before 7 p.m. at a residence in the 1200 block of 3rd Avenue Southwest by a Jamestown police officer. A family member with access to the flat also arrived at the scene to help with the welfare check.

The family member and Burkle began arguing after entering the flat, and Burkle punched the family member in the neck and face, according to Blinsky. To stop the assault, the officer interfered.

Burkle went after the family member again, and when the officer interfered to stop the assault, Burkle punched the officer in the face with his hands, according to Blinsky. Burkle was taken into custody with the assistance of other responding cops when the officer was able to gain control of him.

The officer who was reportedly assaulted, according to Blinsky, was evaluated and discharged from the Jamestown Regional Medical Center with minor facial lacerations and bruising.
