Officials were summoned to a Lexington apartment complex Wednesday morning after reports of smoke and evidence of violence outside. According to a Lexington Police Department statement, a caller reported blood on the steps and a gun in the parking lot.
Police entered the flat and found smoke and two persons who were subsequently pronounced deceased. Officers discovered a tiny toddler with serious injuries. Officers grabbed the child and raced to nearby firefighters for assistance until Davidson County EMS arrived. When Lexington Fire Department crews arrived, they discovered smoke coming from a stove and no fire in the apartment.
The child’s injuries were not caused by smoke or fire in residence, authorities added. No more suspects were in custody as of 8 a.m. Thursday, authorities added.
