3 injured in shootout on Little Rock's University Avenue

Three people were hurt in a gunfight on University Avenue in Little Rock.

Little Rock police were investigating a gunshot on University Avenue Friday night that wounded at least three persons, according to officials.

According to police spokesperson Mark Edwards, three persons were shot, with two of them in severe condition.

According to Edwards, at least some participants on both sides of the dispute were armed and traded shots.

According to a police official, more trustworthy information won’t be accessible until today morning, once detectives have gathered evidence at the site.

According to Edwards, the first call reporting the incident came in at 7:20 p.m.

At 9:30 p.m., police were still working at the crime scene, which included at least one lane of University Avenue near the Interstate 630 exit and the parking lot of Raising Cane’s restaurant.

The only visible trace of a commotion was a damaged, dark-colored automobile between University and the I-630 exit, somewhat uphill from the restaurant. Police cordoned off the area and deployed tape to keep journalists and bystanders at a safe distance. It was unclear if the car had been hit by bullets.

At least six marked Little Rock police cars were in the area, controlling traffic and limiting access to the incident. Officers surveyed the scene with flashlights as they strolled around near the wrecked car and the parking lot.
