A Kansas man has been charged with threatening President Joe Biden.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (CSU) — A Kansas man was accused on Friday of threatening President Joe Biden.
Scott Ryan Merryman has been charged in the United States District Court for the District of Maryland with making threats against the President of the United States and making an interstate communication conveying a threat to damage.
The events that led to Merryman’s charges are revealed in court filings.
Merryman phoned authorities with the Independence, Kansas, Police Department on Tuesday, Jan. 25, and informed them that he was on his way to visit Biden in Washington, D.C.
On Wednesday, Jan. 26, he was approached by a US Secret Service agent.
Merryman informed an agent over the phone that he was heading to Washington D.C. to “lop off the head of the snake in the heart of the country.” “because God had instructed him to do so
When asked whether this was a threat to Biden, Merryman responded no.
The same day, another Secret Service agent saw Merryman at a Cracker Barrel in Hagerstown, Maryland, and urged him not to bring ammunition to the White House.
Merryman is accused of threatening a special agent on the phone, stating, “I’m coming for you, b****.””
“Yes, I am,” Merryman said when asked whether he was threatening a special agent.
According to court records, Merryman wrote “a succession of progressively menacing language” on Facebook from January 25 to January 27.
Merryman said, in part, in one of the postings, “The White House will witness a miracle. I think Joe Biden is now the AntiChrist, and he will die as a result of a deadly head wound.”
Merryman called the White House Switchboard on Thursday morning and started threatening Biden.
Another special agent who talked with Merryman was called by a White House operator.
During the talks, Merryman is said to have said things such as, “I’m coming for his b**** a** sleeping Joe.” I’m referring to Vice President Biden, and you may quote me.”
