Stimulus Checks: IRS Letter Explains if You Qualify for Recovery Rebate Credit

Stimulus Checks IRS Letter Explains if You Qualify for Recovery Rebate Credit

(CSU) – If you’re looking for a unique way to express yourself, Those who received a third stimulus check-in 2021 should expect a letter from the Internal Revenue Service in the mail shortly, with instructions on how to file their taxes.

The IRS said in a statement that anybody who receives these letters should keep them. “Do not discard them.”

The letters are intended to assist you with your 2021 tax returns by providing a more detailed explanation of how to claim your non-taxable economic impact (stimulus) payments.

What if you don’t receive a stimulus payment?

Is a recovery rebate credit available to you, and should you apply for one? The explanation letter will lead you through the process, including how much stimulus money you received, as well as any “plus-up payments” and any remaining funds owed to you.

Third stimulus cheques, worth up to $1,400 for participants and any dependents, began being mailed out in March of last year.

By the end of January, the letters are expected to be sent out. Families who received child tax credit payments last year will receive a separate letter.

In April 2020, the CARES Act was brought into law, and the first wave of direct payments to American taxpayers was sent. Under the American Rescue Plan, these payments were followed by a second wave in December 2020 and the third round in 2021. As a forerunner to the increased child tax credit, the IRS began delivering monthly payments to families with children in July 2021.
