Newark Ironbound Armed Carjacking Suspect Sought

Newark police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man suspect wanted in connection with a carjacking on Thursday, December 30.

The suspect entered a victim’s vehicle in the 200 block of Lafayette Street shortly after 12 p.m. and demanded the victim to exit, according to police.

The suspect was unable to flee in the vehicle and ran on foot, carrying the victim’s purse westbound on Lafayette Street.

While detectives are aggressively seeking the culprit, we are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him as swiftly as possible.

The suspect was described as 6’1″ tall, heavyset, and dressed in a navy blue cotton hooded sweatsuit, black ski mask, and black and white sneakers, according to police.
