WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (CSU) — According to a news release from the Winston-Salem Police Department, the gunshot death of a 15-year-old is being investigated as a homicide.
Officers from Winston-Salem arrived at Timlic Avenue at 3:45 a.m. on Saturday after receiving information about a gunshot.
Officers arrived to find a 15-year-old man, subsequently identified as Edwin Hernandez-Medina, lying lifeless in a parking lot with a gunshot wound.
He was taken to the hospital by Forsyth County EMS, where he died on Sunday.
Hernandez-Medina was identified as a friend of Edwin Cisneros-Lopez, 20, who was shot and murdered on Pitt Street in Winston-Salem on Monday.
The two occurrences are being investigated to see whether they are linked.
