There will be $1,000 stimulus payments for the second year straight and a raise in teacher salaries from $40,000 to $47,000 as part of the enhanced financing for public schools requested by Governor Ron DeSantis.
In November, DeSantis unveiled his school budget proposal, which included more spending for teachers and students in grades K-12 and new education programs.

Teachers and principals who work full-time in grades pre-kindergarten through 12th will be eligible for the one-time payment of $1,000.
A total of $600 million of the budget will increase teacher compensation to a starting wage of $47,500, an increase of $50 million from last year.
The state’s Senate Committee on Appropriations issued the fiscal year’s budget on Friday, and it is expected to be adopted on Wednesday.
Teachers’ pay increases are outlined in the proposed law. They will take effect when the legislation is passed.
In contrast to last year’s bonus payments, the $1,000 cheques will not be sent to students until September, when school begins for the new year.
Kelli Stargel, a senator from Florida, says the budget contains “record spending” for the state’s education fund.
School safety and mental health measures are also included in the budget’s $421 million allocations.
The School Hardening Grant Program will get $42 million, while Jewish Day Schools will receive $3.5 million in safety improvements.
“As Florida continues to be a national leader in education, these historic investments will surely help us focus on the unique needs of kids to help them improve academically,” Commissioner of Education Richard Corcoran said.
As requests for a fourth stimulus check grow, Florida has launched an additional stimulus program to help those severely touched by the pandemic.
Texas and New Mexico have also made public commitments to assist those in need. California and Maryland have already said that they will do so.
Florida was joined by Texas, Maryland, and California in delving into their state finances to provide a fourth stimulus payment.
