Henry Cavill, Not Robert Pattinson, was the first choice for Twilight and even tried out for Harry Potter. The Superman star is now revealing some previously unknown details to us.

Henry Cavill, who recently made his triumphant return to the DCEU as the powerful Superman, is one name that is now all over the internet. When DC was placed in new and better hands, the world finally got what they wanted. Cavill, however, has always been one to have gotten his IP parts with some sort of clever play of destiny, even though he suffered enough to bring back Clark Kent. If you recall, Daniel Craig, of The Witcher fame, was almost made James Bond.

In 2013, Cavill’s decades-long career saw a major breakthrough when Zack Snyder introduced him as Superman in Man of Steel. He became synonymous with the most talked-about superhero thanks to the movie, so a recasting would never have been acceptable. Did you know, though, that Henry was the front-runner for a part played by Robert Pattinson and was also considered for another?

If you’re perplexed, let us explain. While James Bond is the most well-known role that Henry Cavill could have played, that is not the only one. The performer was also Stephenie Meyer’s initial choice to play Edward in the Twilight; Robert Pattinson ultimately won the role. The Superman actor is now discussing the same.

According to the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast by Josh Horowitz (via Cinema Blend), Henry Cavill had no knowledge that he had been cast as Edward in Twilight before Robert Pattinson was even given a chance. He commented on it by saying, “Yeah, I sense some Batman rivalries. Absolutely not; I was unaware of the project or their desire to cast me. When compared to now, the internet wasn’t quite as useful. When I later learned, I thought, “OK, that would have been cool.”

However, Henry Cavill and Robert Pattinson continued to compete for the same part after that. Henry has recently acknowledged that he actually tried out for the role of Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter, but he was unsuccessful, and the role instead went to The Batman star. He admitted, “I absolutely tried out for that one [Potter], but I didn’t get it.”

Now, all we can do is imagine how Harry Potter and the Twilight series might have seemed if Henry Cavill had been chosen instead of Robert Pattinson.
