Manifest Cast on Cal’s Big Change in Season 4: ‘He’s Got so Many Daddy Issues’

Manifest Cast on Cal's Big Change in Season 4 'He's Got so Many Daddy Issues'

The cast of Manifest commented on Cal’s major development in season 4 by saying, “He’s got so many daddy problems.”

Cal is the only character on Manifest who has undergone greater transformation than anybody else.

Fans of the recently renewed drama will recall one of the major cliffhangers from the third season, which was when the youngest member of the Stone family, who was portrayed by Jack Messina, disappeared under unexplained circumstances and then reappeared five years later as an adult.

In this point in the fourth season of Manifest, Ty Doran plays the role of Cal, and he and his fellow cast members gave a sneak peek at the character’s maturation process at EW’s video suite at New York Comic Con on Saturday, in advance of the show’s main panel.

“He’s in this older body but has not matured to the degree that would be apropos of his size today, I believe,” says Doran. “He’s in this older body but has not developed to the level.” “Therefore, it has been strange to… He’s like a tiny child. He is so troubled, he has so many problems related to his father, and he wants to be of assistance so much. It’s been fascinating to see… I believe that he matures quite a little during the course of this season, as shown by the fact that where he starts and where he concludes are quite different locations.” As a result of the gap of two years that separates seasons 3 and 4, every character is going to go through some kind of transformation. Athena Karkanis’ character, Grace, was killed off in the series’ conclusion, and Angelina took Eden, the baby, and ran off with her (Holly Taylor).

According to actor Josh Dallas, Ben is a “deep in both his sorrow and shame spirals, as well as his rage – he is experiencing a great deal of anger at the moment. And he is withdrawing from everything, and this includes the callings that have been placed on his life. And regrettably, this also includes his family who are still close to him, who still love him, and who want him to get well. However, he is unable to see the [forest] for the trees, and as a result, he tries to push them all away. In this first section, he is involved in a number of events that are both terrifying and moving.”

As a consequence of this, Luna Blaise asserts that Olive, Cal’s sister, assumes “a motherly role” in light of their emotionally absent father. Matt Long chimes in and says that Olive and Zeke “do become the type of parents.” Since the other of the family members are busy pursuing other interests, you might say that we serve as the family’s foundation.

On November 4, Netflix will release all ten episodes that make up the first part of the fourth season of Manifest. There has been no mention of a debut date for the remaining ten episodes that make up Part 2.

In the video that can be found above, showrunner Jeff Rake and his cast members, including Taylor, Melissa Roxburgh, JR Ramirez, Parveen Kaur, and Daryl Edwards, discuss the journey that the show took from being cancelled by NBC following the completion of its third season to being saved by Netflix for its fourth season.
