After a Pursuit Into Tennessee, a Male from Scott County Was Taken Into Custody

GATE CITY — Following reports that he had collided with a police vehicle during a pursuit, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office collaborated with other law enforcement agencies in order to apprehend a man who had been the subject of many complaints regarding his reckless driving.

SCSO police were dispatched to a residence on Yuma Road on Thursday, where a black Acura was parked in the driveway, as stated in a press statement issued by the agency. The sedan corresponded to the description of a car that witnesses claimed had been driven in an unsafe manner.

During the course of an investigation that was unconnected to this one, the SCSO collaborated with law enforcement officers from Hawkins County to identify a minor who had been reported as missing in conjunction with an adult man.

In connection with the disappearance of the child, the authorities filed an arrest warrant for the homeowner, Teddy Vaughn Jr., who is 30 years old.

Vaughn was spotted at a petrol station in Weber City by law enforcement, and they informed him that they had warrants out for his arrest.a

Vaughn led police from the SCSO and the Weber City Police Department on a pursuit that crossed the state border and continued into Tennessee. After that, Vaughn ran away on foot but was later captured and brought into detention.

According to the statement, Vaughn collided with a SCSO vehicle as they were pursuing him in his car, but no one was hurt in the collision.

Vaughn was charged with one count of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile as well as one count of obstructing the administration of justice. There may be charges brought as a result of the chase.

Vaughn is now being detained in the state of Tennessee as he waits to be extradited to Scott County.

According to the announcement, the Sheriff’s Deputy’s Office (SCSO) was able to identify that Vaughn was the driver of the Acura about which the department had been getting complaints.
