On Wednesday, a statement posted on the door of Smith’s Restaurant in Springfield stated that the business had been forced to close forever “due to (unforeseen) circumstances.”
According to the Bolivar Herald-Free Press, the closure follows the passing of Mark Smith, proprietor of Smith’s Restaurant, on Saturday. In addition to having facilities in Clinton and Collins, Smith’s is a Bolivar institution. Smith’s is renowned for its American cuisine, which includes daily specials and huge sandwiches with pork tenderloin.
The Springfield store debuted in 2019 in a former Kum & Go facility close to Incredible Pizza Company on South Campbell Avenue. Over the years, the restaurant encountered several difficulties, one of which was a vehicle who struck the structure by mistake in January.
