Coroner rules on cause of death for 19-year-old man northeast of Durango

Northeast of Durango, a coroner determines the 19-year-old man’s cause of death

The La Plata County Coroner’s Office has determined that a 19-year-old man’s death in June, which occurred northeast of Durango, was a suicide.

On June 12, about 10:45 a.m., Andrew Samora’s death was reported on Highland Hill Drive, close to the 2000 block of Florida Road (County Road 240), just northeast of the city boundaries.

The reason of death was being looked into at the time, including if it was accidental, suicidal, or murder, according to the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office.

Although the Coroner’s Office released an autopsy report last week that determined the death was a suicide, the Sheriff’s Office has consistently refused requests for more information regarding the circumstances surrounding the death.

Samora’s residence has not been disclosed by the authorities, but the coroner’s office confirmed that the body was delivered to a Colorado Springs funeral home.

Samora had alcohol, cocaine, and marijuana in his system at the time of his death, according to a toxicology study. His blood alcohol content was recorded as being 0.161. Colorado’s legal limit for driving is 0.08, in contrast.
