Greenwich Man Accused of Filing a Fraudulent Police Report (1200 × 800 px)

CSU GREENWICH, N.Y. Kenneth Straight was detained by state police on Thursday as a result of a fraudulent crime report he filed back in March. He is facing three misdemeanour charges.

Straight, 53, of Greenwich contacted 911 on March 9 from Cumberland Farms on Route 29 and reported that someone was threatening him with a butcher’s knife, according to police. Straight had left the area by the time police arrived, and additional investigation established that Straight had started the altercation with the other man.

Straight gave a written statement in which he claimed that the other man had drawn the knife, but police claim that the account of what happened was false. Time travel to Thursday, when Greenwich police apprehended Straight after receiving a warrant.

On September 8, Straight is due to appear in Greenwich Town Court. His full list of charges is provided below:

Falsely reporting a third-degree event, class a minor offence

Making a false written statement that is punishable is a class A misdemeanour.

Class A misdemeanour for obstructing governmental administration
