‘The Breakfast Club’ Co-Host Angela Yee to Depart Radio Show After 12 Years (1)

Angela Yee, the longtime co-host of the popular radio programme The Breakfast Club, announced on Wednesday morning that she would be leaving the programme to start her own weekly solo broadcast with iHeartRadio.

Later this fall, radio host Angela Yee will launch Way Up With Angela Yee, which will have her interacting with fans, doing interviews with famous people, and covering current events. More than 30 iHeartMedia stations, including The Breakfast Club’s flagship station, New York’s Power 105.1, will broadcast the programme throughout the lunchtime hour, and it will be available for national syndication.

Yee said on air during The Breakfast Club’s show on Wednesday, “I’ve been wanting to do this for years, well before the pandemic. “I’m really happy about having a nationally syndicated show because it’s uncommon for someone in my position — a woman, a Black woman — to be up here, and it’s a tremendous chance.”

Charlamagne and DJ Envy After Yee departs later this fall, Tha God will continue to host The Breakfast Club in order to coincide with the debut of her show.

Yee has co-hosted The Breakfast Club since the show’s debut in 2010, and during her nearly two-decade radio career, she has won numerous accolades, including two Gracie Awards. Yee, who was born and raised in Brooklyn, started her radio career with SiriusXM in 2005. She has spoken with a variety of notable people, including President Barack Obama, Vice President Kamala Harris, Dave Chapelle, 50 Cent, Issa Rae, Cardi B, Jay Z, Eminem, and Nas.
