Fort Myers, Swfl Crime Stoppers Increase Reward for Tips on 2 Cases

Together with Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, the City of Fort Myers has raised the reward for information on two recent fatal incidents from $1,000 to $2,500.

In accordance with a Crime Stoppers Facebook post, Fort Myers decided to increase the Crime Stoppers prize for information that results in an arrest in two separate investigations: the murder of Craig Truttling, 33, and the hit-and-run death of Danny Hand, 61.

The 14U Fort Myers Firecats coach Truttling was fatally shot inside his pickup truck on the side of Highlands Circle on Friday morning. Hand was murdered by a motorist who fled the scene on Saturday when he was out on foot near Thomas Street and Highland Avenue. In order to entice people to come forward with information, Fort Myers officials decided to enhance the incentive for tips in each of these cases by $2,500, bringing the total reward in each case to $5,500.

As the coordinator for Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, Trish Routte asserted, “We are confident that there are people in the community who know more about both of these instances than they have disclosed thus far.” “We are hoping that the increased reward money from the City of Fort Myers will act as a motivator for individuals to take action and do the right thing, both for the families of Craig and Danny and for our community as a whole. We must stop the bloodshed as soon as possible.

Call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-8477 if you have any information on the Truttling killing or the Hand hit-and-run. You can also leave tips online or through the P3 Tips app. All informants will stay anonymous.
