On Wednesday morning, police made an arrest of a man who had been sought for for reportedly producing a revolver and aiming it at a woman he was arguing with. Michael Bopfinger, 47, was detained in Vernon on August 3 at roughly 9:05 a.m., according to a brief email from the Vernon RCMP. To appear in court later, he was taken to the Vernon division.
Following a “altercation” in a parking lot of an apartment building in the 3700 block of 27 Avenue on July 23, Bopfinger has been missing since, according to an RCMP press release. When people try to enforce the law on their own, bad things can happen, warns the Kelowna RCMP.
She reported to police that the suspect produced a revolver, pointed it at her, and then turned to leave. When he left, she dialled 911, and when Mounties with police dogs arrived, they did not make any arrests. Bopfinger was active on social media even though he was sought. Even after he left a remark on a post, RCMP tried to contact him and invite him inside.
In a stolen truck, Penticton RCMP discovered “tonnes” of undeliverable mail.
According to the RCMP, Bopfinger is sought after for an alleged assault, making threats, and many crimes involving guns.
He is reported as being 300 pounds in weight, five feet nine inches tall, and having blue eyes. According to the RCMP, he also has a thick beard and a shaven head.
