County of El Paso Overdoses and exposures to fentanyl have been a problem in El Paso County. According to the Sheriff’s Office, fentanyl is added to one out of every four illicit drugs.
On June 20 of this year, Colorado State Patrol officers found 114 pounds of pure fentanyl on a highway. According to CSP, there was enough powder to kill over 25 million people.
And in July, a fentanyl and weapons bust revealed that two brothers and their family routinely sold fentanyl tablets in the aisles of their family-run liquor shop in full view of customers.
Police claim that the problem has even spread to social media, where children can buy fentanyl that is advertised by certain emojis without their parents knowing.
The public may contribute to stopping the use of this harmful narcotic in our community, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and Pikes Peak Area Crimes Stoppers.
