91 People Arrested In North Carolina And South Carolina's Crime Reduction Operation

N.C.’s Charlotte More than 91 people have been apprehended as a consequence of a crime-fighting initiative in North and South Carolina on suspicion of murder, sexual assault, violent assault, robbery, kidnapping, child abuse, and drug trafficking.

The enforcement action disclosed today was conducted between July 5 and July 15, 2022, in Gaston County, North Carolina, and York County, South Carolina, with a focus on the localities in Gastonia, North Carolina, and Rock Hill, South Carolina.

“Operation Washout,” an effort to reduce violent crime led by the U.S. Marshals Service, unites federal, state, and local law enforcement and aims to increase community safety by locating and apprehending fugitives, violent criminals, self-declared gang members, sex offenders, drug traffickers, and parole violators.

According to Dena J. King, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina, criminal activity negatively affects the health of our communities. I applaud the law enforcement organisations that took part in this crime prevention programme. We must hold those who propagate violence and endanger the safety of our citizens accountable while we collaborate to forge greater bonds with our communities.

Chris Edge, Acting U.S. Marshal of the U.S. Marshals Service in the Western District of North Carolina, said, “Our dedication to strengthen, protect, and secure our communities is displayed by the coordinated work of all the agencies participating in this operation.” It also serves as a solemn reminder that if you commit a crime and believe that the United States Marshals Service will locate you no matter where you hide, you are mistaken.

ATF, DEA, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of North Carolina, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of South Carolina, the U.S. Probation Office for the Western District of North Carolina, and the U.S. Marshals Service in North Carolina and South Carolina were among the cooperating agencies.
