Colorado (CSU) – The previous ten years, particularly the last two, have seen an increase in the violent crime rates in Denver. Only a small portion of the city’s 78 neighbourhoods account for the majority.
According to the Denver Police Department’s figures, this year has already seen close to 2,800 violent assaults, robberies, and killings. Compared to Denver’s urban core and southwestern districts, the high-income areas east of Broadway and south of Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard see significantly lower rates of violent crime.
These areas are home to 50% of the violent crimes committed in the city:
Congress Hill
District Central Business
Urban Center
east clifton
Five Remarks
Green Valley Ranch/Gateway
Hampden
Park Lincoln
Montbello
Eastern Park Hill
Downtown Park (Stapleton)

Five Points, Denver’s most dangerous neighbourhood, maintains its multi-year dominance with 210 violent offences. Union Station is a major hub for public transportation and urban nightlife.
The I-70 bordering communities of Montbello, Green Valley Ranch, and Central Park (Stapleton) are ranked second, third, and sixth, respectively, for violent crime.
Seventh after its northern neighbour, Central Park, is East Colfax. The majority of Denver’s other violent neighbourhoods are located in the southwest corner of the city.
