Is Loki Season 2 Coming in 2022 (1)

Tom Hiddleston’s trickster will return in Loki season 2 but when can fans expect the sophomore outing of the Marvel Cinematic Universe series?

Disney Plus is home to some of the most successful TV shows today, and at the very top of that list are undoubtedly the Marvel Studios-produced ones. Set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, each one has added intricate new stories to a world with a decade of storytelling already behind it, expanding it in new ways entirely.

One character who has benefited from all of that expansion is Loki. Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief had long been one of the most adored characters in the MCU, with many believing his layered villain to be one of the best parts of the Thor movies. On Disney Plus, however, he got the chance to shine in his own six-episode adventure.

Loki was one of last year’s biggest TV shows, and it was one of the only ones in the Marvel Studios library to live beyond its first season as Marvel clearly thought there was more to it than the miniseries format they have adopted with some of the others.

With the series’ first season wrapping a year ago, when can viewers expect Loki season 2?

Loki season 2 release date predictions

Loki season 2 has begun filming in the UK, with set photos of Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson and Sophia Di Martino already finding their way around the internet. While that’s certainly great news as it means the second season is slowly emerging on the horizon, it likely rules out a 2022 release.

The show will likely shoot all through the summer, possibly wrapping in August or September time (given that its first season took three months to film). After that post-production will need to take place.

Taking that into account (and the fact that Marvel’s She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, the untitled Halloween Special and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will be keeping MCU fans entertained in the months ahead), the earliest we could see Loki season 2 premiere would likely be early-mid 2023.
