Man Jailed, Allegedly Tied to Crime Spree in Polk County

(Valley News Live) – EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. An East Grand Forks man has been charged with six new felonies, five of which are related to theft or burglary in the East Grand Forks region and the other for possession of methamphetamine.

Court filings show five distinct burglaries dating back to April 26, when a farm shop was smashed into. A theft was reported on May 9th at a construction site in East Grand Forks, followed by another six days later at a rural farmland. Diesel was allegedly stolen from trucks in rural Polk County on May 21st, and a deer stand worth $4500 was stolen on May 28th.

Lucas Gilbertson was arrested for DWI on Sunday in Hubbard County. His tyres appeared to match the tracks left at a number of alleged stolen locations, according to court filings. According to court filings, officers searched his residence the next day and discovered a number of the stolen items.

Gilbertson’s criminal record in Polk County is extensive. He’ll appear in court again on June 21st.
