Jackson Neighbors Tackle Crime with Night Street Ministry

CSU/ In the city of Jackson, new measures are being taken to reduce violence.
On Tuesday night, representatives of the community went out to ask people to lay their firearms down and pray. Instead of holding a march or rally, the group chose to focus on gas stations, which they say are the main source of violence in Jackson.

“We’re hands-on, not just talking about it, but actually doing something about it,” says the group. “I’m trying to offer some conflict resolution because that’s what’s missing,” said Sedrick Coleman, the Better Men Society’s vice president.

For the year 2022, there have been 59 homicides in Jackson as of June 1.
