Cure Violence Is Investigating the Triple Shooting in The Moncrief Area (1)

JAXONVILLE, FLORIDA — First Coast News has been tracking a gunshot in the Moncrief area on West 35th Street and Moncrief Road that left numerous bystanders injured.

Police told us that the people who were shot were not participating in the gunfight.

“I’m quite concerned.” I’m quite worried. We don’t know who will be next. Gwen Nmazi, president of the Royal Terrace Community, said, “We are practically terrified to drive around the street over here now.”

Nmazi claims that gun violence has always been a problem in the region where the shooting occurred.

She believes that increasing the police presence in the area would minimise crime.

“It’s risky.” “I’m not sure what’s going on over by that car wash, but I think they need to pay a lot more attention to it,” Nmazi added.

Mildred Jennings, the programme manager for Cure Violence Jacksonville, said the shooting is being investigated.

Durkeeville, New Town, Flag Street, and Grand Park are the places they concentrate on.

“The crew will go out and simply chat to the neighbourhood to see what’s going on, and a lot of times we’ll get phone calls about what’s going on,” Jennings explained.

Randy DeFoor, a City Councilwoman, believes the recent string of shootings is troubling and that something needs to be done.

“This isn’t going to be solved by one programme, one individual, or one authority,” DeFoor explained. “It’s going to take the entire city to confront this issue, not just the mayor, not just the state attorney, not just the sheriff.”

You can call Crime Stoppers and remain anonymous if you or anyone you know has any more information about the shooting.
