Officers from the Richmond Police Department located a guy with a gunshot wound in the 5700 block of Hull Street Road about 2:40 p.m. Saturday.
He was pronounced dead on the scene.
As of Sunday morning, no more details have been released, although the medical examiner is determining “the cause and manner of death,” according to a late-night statement on Saturday.
Following the publication of a new 38-page study devoted to decreasing gun-related violence, Richmond officials gathered last week to laud gun violence prevention measures.
On Thursday, Richmond police announced 12 homicides in the first quarter of 2022, one less than this time last year. The NYPD reported 90 murders in 2021, the most since 2004, but a Richmond Times-Dispatch tracker of municipal killings indicates the number does not include an additional 11 slayings.
