Victim in Chowchilla shooting homicide identified by Madera County Sheriff’s Office

The Madera County Sheriff’s Office has named the man shot and died near a Chowchilla home on Thursday night as Abraham Barajas-Cedillo, 33, who lived at the property on Road 15 3/4. Around 9 p.m., deputies discovered Barajas-Cedillo, who had multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency responders tried to save Barajas-life, Cedillo’s but he died as a result of his injuries. According to the sheriff’s office, this is Madera County’s first homicide in 2022. The Madera County Sheriff’s Forensic Technicians are still reviewing evidence recovered at the site, and investigators are gathering witness accounts and surveillance footage from the vicinity, but preliminary evidence suggests the shooting was gang-related. Detectives are looking for at least two adult males based on witness testimony. To hide their identity, the suspects used masks and clothing.
