Suspect Dead After Officer-Involved Shooting In Chisholm

CHISHOLM, Minn. (CSU) – A deadly officer-involved shooting in Chisholm is being investigated by the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

The stabbing happened soon after 7 a.m. in the 200 block of Central Avenue South, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office.

According to investigators, the suspect, who was declared deceased at the scene, was sought in connection with a recent felony-level incident in Morrison County, Minnesota.

Since around 4:45 a.m., St. Louis County deputies, cops from Hibbing, Chisholm, Virginia, and the Minnesota State Patrol have been aggressively looking for the suspect.

Around 7:15 a.m., a deputy in Chisholm noticed the car was vacant. According to the sheriff’s office, officers then responded to Central Avenue South, where they made contact with the subject before firing rounds.

There were no injuries to law enforcement agents, and it was not immediately clear whose agency or agencies fired their guns.

The suspect’s identity was likewise withheld for the time being.

The BCA will investigate if the incident was caught on squad and body cameras.
