APD: Man’s Demise Sunday has been reclassified as murder.

AUSTIN, Texas (CSU) — According to Austin Police Department, a suspicious death that was investigated by the department on Sunday has now been ruled a murder.

Around 4:30 a.m., APD officers rushed to the 200 block of E. Milton St. in south Austin, where they discovered a male with a gunshot wound and “visible injuries to his body” laying in the road. About two blocks east of South Congress Avenue, the incident occurred. Shortly after police arrived, the guy was declared dead.

Cory Nichols Arizmendez, 35, was named as the victim by APD in a Wednesday update. The Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office found his death to be murder after an autopsy on Monday.

APD investigators are requesting anybody with knowledge about what occurred to call them at 512-974-8477 if they have any leads on possible suspects.

According to APD, this is the city’s 20th murder investigation this year.
