Death of 18-Year-Old Naomi Irion Ruled a Homicide

(CSU) LAS VEGAS — Naomi Irion died as a result of gunshot wounds to the head and chest, according to the Nevada coroner’s office. Irion’s corpse was discovered in Reno, on the state’s western border with California, at a rural graveyard in Churchill County.

Troy Driver was charged and jailed by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office on April 1 for open murder with a deadly weapon, robbery, burglary, and evidence destruction. The 18-year-death old’s is being investigated as a homicide, according to the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office and the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.

On March 30, the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office verified Irion’s identification. She was last seen alive at 5 a.m. on March 12 when she got into the passenger seat of her automobile outside of a Walmart.

Around the time of Irion’s abduction, video footage revealed a person from a neighbouring homeless camp prowling around cars, according to officials. After then, the guy was observed getting into Naomi’s vehicle and driving away.

Deputies first detained Driver on a charge of abduction in the first degree. Driver is accused of kidnapping her “with the aim of conducting sexual assault and/or murdering her,” according to court filings.

According to the Associated Press, Driver was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, April 5, for a pretrial status hearing, but the judge postponed it until May 10.
