Florida Woman Charged With Setting Circle K Clerk on Fire

After setting a Pensacola gas station convenience store clerk on fire on Wednesday, a Florida woman was charged with attempted murder. Betty Jean McFadden, 30, was told “not to panhandle” outside the Circle K, according to WEAR-TV, a local ABC affiliate. That’s when McFadden allegedly proceeded to get a can of gasoline, sprayed one of the clerks with it, then threw matches at her, causing her to burst into flames, according to the site. According to Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons, the clerk was rushed to the hospital with “severe, horrible, life-threatening” burns. While attempting to save the first clerk, a second clerk was also burned. Multiple onlookers witnessed the attack, which was filmed on security cameras, according to Simmons.
