Domestic Abuse and Rural Crime Made Police Priorities in Norfolk Crime Plan

Domestic Abuse and Rural Crime Made Police Priorities in Norfolk Crime Plan (1)

Norfolk police have highlighted more visible policing, rural crime, and a drive to combat abuse and harassment against women as top concerns.

The details of what Norfolk Police and Crime Commissioner Giles Orpen-Smellie wants Norfolk Constabulary to deliver over the next two years are laid out in the new police, crime, and community safety strategy.

It was created after a public consultation in which people were questioned about their objectives for policing and safety, as well as feedback from partners such as Norfolk Chief Constable Paul Sanford.

“I went out to the public with a set of ideas, and the public was not shy in coming back with their opinions,” Mr. Orpen-Smellie, who was elected in May, said.

“The public wants to see visible policing and, considering that 60 percent of the population in Norfolk lives in rural areas, they want to see a stronger emphasis on rural crime,” says the report.
